Supporting English and
German Language Development
To ensure that students with little to no knowledge of English can quickly integrate into the school community, we offer a targeted English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme.
This programme is designed for students who need extra support in developing the skills required to access the curriculum in English and to use the language confidently both in and outside of school.
An EAL teacher collaborates with the classroom teacher to create an individual programme that accelerates language development and helps students become active and engaged members of the classroom.
The programme includes both in-class support and smallgroup lessons to strengthen language skills.
In addition, one-on-one or small-group German lessons can be arranged for students who wish to fast-track their learning and pursue formal accreditation, such as certifications from the Goethe Institute.

Japanese for
All Students
As an international school in Japan, all students participate in Japanese lessons. The school provides two different Japanese programmes: Kokugo for students who are native Japanese speakers and Japanese as a Foreign Language ( JLF) for other students. The Kokugo curriculum is carefully adapted from the Japanese national curriculum.

Language Enrichment
Opportunities
As part of the after-school programme, in the past, the school has offered Spanish and French language clubs. Given the diverse backgrounds of the teaching staff, DSKI is able to offer these and other languages.Additionally, DSKI organizes bilingual summer and winter camps to keep students engaged during school breaks.
